2022 Golf Scramble

The Sicula Italia Foundation, established in April 2021, initiated efforts to build a formal Sister Cities partnership between Omaha, Nebraska, and Carlentini, Sicily. Since its founding, the organization has hosted filmmaker Michael Cavalieri for a screening of his award-winning film Ritornato, supported the creation of the Italian/Sicilian tribute mural at Orsi’s Bakery, launched educational programs connecting grade schools in Omaha and Carlentini, and welcomed Carlentini Mayor Giuseppe Stefio, his wife, and delegation members during their visit this past July.

In the years since, some of the original members of the Sicula Italia Foundation have gone on to form new initiatives. Today, the Carlentini Omaha Association USA, Inc. leads the way in organizing programs, projects, and events that connect the two communities. Looking ahead, these efforts include opportunities for student, teacher, artist, and cultural exchanges, all designed to strengthen the bonds between Omaha and Carlentini.]
